A marine survey is an evaluation of a boat, detailing the condition and valuation at the time of inspection. Surveys are used for the purpose of acquiring insurance, pre-purchase information, and financing. Survey guidelines include a strict code of ethics, ABYC safety, SAMS, and the United States Coast Guard requirements. Services include in and out of the water hull inspections.
The process of your survey starts with communication and identifying your survey needs, as well as, arranging a date and time for the inspection. Have your vessel ready by making it accessible to the surveyors and having required documentation and information available. Pictures are a large part of a survey; a clean boat shows well for insurance and financing. Most surveys are ready within a few days and in an effort to minimize our impact on the environment reports are sent electronically. Hard copies upon requested.
Often marine surveyors can be booked weeks out or not available in your area. If you are in need of a marine survey, or had an incident and time is of the essence; Watermark offers statewide service from our home base in Kodiak. Additional costs apply.
